Prescriptions

Order your repeat prescription online, through the NHS App, or at the practice.

How to order a repeat prescription

The fastest ways to order are:

You can also:

  • •ask your pharmacy to order for you
  • •hand in a written request at the practice
  • •email [email protected] (this is slower than the NHS App or online form)

We cannot take prescription requests by phone. This is for your safety.

How long it takes

We process requests within 2 working days of receiving them. Order a few days before you run out. If your pharmacy orders for you, allow extra time. The 2 working days start when we receive the request, not when you ask the pharmacy.

Every request is handled by our dedicated onsite prescriptions team and then checked and processed by our qualified pharmacists, who work through requests daily.

Prescription charges

Most adults in England pay a charge for each item. Some people get free prescriptions.

Nominate a pharmacy

You can nominate a pharmacy to receive your prescriptions electronically. This means you do not need to collect a paper prescription from us. Ask your pharmacy to set this up, or do it in the NHS App.

Lost prescription

If you have lost your prescription, contact us online. We will reissue it if it has not already been dispensed.

Painkillers and controlled drugs will not be reissued if lost or stolen. This is because of the high risk of misuse. If you are concerned about the safety of a lost controlled drug prescription, please contact us.

Medication reviews

We may ask you to come in for a medication review before we issue more of a medicine. This is to make sure the medicine is still right for you. We will contact you when a review is due.
